![]() ![]() On the other hand, the food was good but there are plenty of other places around the area I’m sure I would have been happier with. I don’t imagine bringing my services here again and I wouldn’t recommend it. But the Yelp score for this spot isnt high, as it can be seen from reviews. We were all very upset by how we were treated. The well-trained host welcomes people all year round. My entire family could feel tension from this individual too. I didn’t appreciate the inconsistency as a first-timer. He seemed much more friendly with them and engaged in good conversation. More customers arrived and I noticed his change in demeanor. I continued to be kind when asking for favors and let it slide again. The rest of my party arrived and employee appeared to be very impatient with us and was very nit picky with how we handled the menus. I also considered leaving but my party was too large to relocate. I didn’t appreciate his behavior but I tolerated it considering I had just asked him to seat a lot of us. Employee seemed overly stressed and voice was raised unnecessarily. Saturday comes and I asked to seat 12-ish people for my birthday. Try to come during the week! Good work, staff at "Fashion." Bon appetit!Ĭalled a couple days in advance to reserve a space during weekend hours for a big party. There is usually only one server on-duty at a time. Visitor "Hello" in another review complained about the wait and there frequently might be one. I should warn visitors that on the weekends this place can be jam-packed. A waitress from another eatery nearby suggested we check it out, and we're glad we did. This is really an unexpected find in this area. The trip before last I had some xiu mai (steamed pork dumplings, sometimes served with a piece of shrimp on top), and they were very good. The turnip cakes are a bit seared on the outside, but also tasty. The Feng Zhao, chicken feet, are savory and practically melt in your mouth. The Cheung fen (bits of ground beef in rice wrappers) really have the Hong Kong taste. The shrimp dumplings (ha gao) here are bouncy and the wrappers thin and delicate. A note in the menu says (in Chinese) "all items hand-made" and I believe it. The essential point is that "Fashion" may have the best dim sum in our area south of the Canadian border. For North Americans, the name here might seem mysterious: "Chao dim sum." The owners should call this place in English: "The In-Spot Dim Sum," or "The Trend"-which would be more to the meaning of "Chao"-but anyway, I'll talk to Maggie the waitress about this on the next visit. ![]() One can hardly imagine a more incongruous set of neighbors than the Latin Mercado, "Fashion Dim Sum," and the country music-blaring sports bar at the end of the row that sit together in this mini-mall, but somehow all the establishments get along (maybe uneasily). ![]()
